When three of your batsmen score centuries in a total of 631 and your inexperienced attack bowls a side out for less than 200, it is hard to imagine just how much more you can improve against opposition that are miles off your standard.

The good news for India is there are still plenty of ways to up their game in the final Test against the West Indies in Mumbai as several players have a point or two to prove.

Virender Sehwag is due a big score as his last century was on 4 November 2010. His opening partner Gautam Gambhir's search for three figures goes back even further, with his last Test ton in January 2010, while Virat Kohli - who is set to replace the dropped Yuvraj Singh in the side - will be looking to book his place in the squad for the tour of Australia.

Then there is Sachin Tendulkar. The Little Master may be telling the whole world that 100 international tons "is just a number", but deep down he knows it would be special to do it in Mumbai in front of his people.

The batsmen no doubt delivered on a good batting deck in Kolkata, but the story of the series so far for India has been the success of their the youngish attack.

You have hardly noticed that Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh are no longer around as Ravichandran Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha and Umesh Yadav bowled like seasoned campaigners and have so far answered all questions asked by the West Indies batsmen.

The Windies may face a daunting prospect, but their fast bowlers should have a little bit more joy at the Wankhede Stadium, if pitch curator Sudhir Naik is to be believed.

"It is a sporting track. There is some grass on it. On the first three days it will assist the seamers and will help the spinners on the fourth and fifth day. Even the West Indies bowlers would love bowling here," he told the Times of India.

Their best hope of getting anything out of the Test would be for their bowlers to nip the hosts out cheaply and then reproduce the collective effort with the bat which gave India a few nervous moments in the second Test at Eden Gardens.

Their problems, though, start right at the top. The best opening stand they have managed this series is 25, while the second-wicket partnerships are also not something to write home about. By the time Darren Bravo and Kirk Edwards come to the crease, they are already under pressure.

The batting line-up picks itself - Shivnarine Chanderpaul should be fit after struggling with a calf muscle injury - while Kemar Roach, Ravi Rampaul and Shane Shillingford are likely to battle it out for same spot in the bowling attack. Rampaul missed the second Test due to illness and his replacement Roach didn't do too badly. The problem for the West Indies, though, is "too badly" is not what they need and two spinners may be the way to go.

Key Men
India: It has been a difficult few months for Ishant Sharma as he has been the only fast bowler to be ever-present in the India line-up. With Yadav bowling so well, some of the pressure has been taken off his shoulders but he wasn't at his best in the first two games. If there is something in it for the quicks, then Ishant could pose more problems for the opposition batsmen.

West Indies: It will be interesting to see how India respond if Adrian Barath and Kraigg Brathwaite get the West Indies off to a solid start in their first innings. It will also take a big load off the rest of the batting line-up.

Prediction
India have lost only one Test at home in the past five years - against South Africa in February 2010 - and the chances of the West Indies challenging that record is pretty remote. The hosts will be keen to claim a rare whitewash in a three-match series.
