Essex all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate followed up a two-wicket display with the ball with a fine unbeaten century as Holland cruised past Kenya in their opening World Cup qualifier in Potchefstroom today.

Jimmy Kamande earlier top-scored with 58 as the Kenyans posted 247 for eight after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Edgar Schiferli was the pick of the bowlers with four for 49.

The Dutch response looked a little shaky at 61 for three in the 18th over, but Ten Doeschate (106no) and Bas Zuiderent (64no) saw them home with 3.4 overs to spare.

Ten Doeschate earlier revealed he expects to cut short his participation in the tournament in order to be with his county for the start of the English domestic season.

The 28-year-old told www.cricketheroes.co.uk: "There will always be county v country issues for me, and this is the case again during this tournament.

"They [Holland] want me to stay on until the 21st (April). But I'm likely to be returning to Essex on April 13 [for the first county championship match, starting on the 15th].

"There's a bit of niggle there because they [the Dutch management team] are not happy with my decision. But while I'm playing professional cricket, it is right that has to be my focus."
